Ok.....I could NOT be happier to find this group if it had fallen out of my own ass. I am SOOOOOOOOO tired of consistently be informed that my beat is the "wrong beat" to march to......isn't there some song about bangin on your drum all day before the parade passes by on the good ship lollipop or something? So I can't decorate worth shit.....so I fart......so I play video games and eat gravy and camp and wear only fibers that naturally occur in nature and listen to the Indigo Girls and I'm sober and I don't own a fat fag hag.......so what??? Isn't the WHOLE point of coming out of the closet in the first place so we can be who and what we are.....ourselves??? Sigh.......but preaching to the choir never got the pastor very far.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that, indeed, I'm not alone......maybe (as dorky and kumbaya as it sounds) people like us will act as a beacon.....sorta like a bug light....and once all the annoying folks in our community get near, we'll zap 'em! Then we'll take over the world.......but whatever does one WEAR when taking over the world?????

The Final Edition of the ICP

Dear Friends of the International Carnival of Pozitivities:

It is with both joy and sadness that I am writing to announce the final edition of the ICP. After you receive this notice, I will delete the mailing list for the ICP from my files and you will no longer receive announcements about the project. I was placed on a new drug regimen about 2 months ago and have experienced a serious side effect to the new meds. I am no longer able to continue to maintain the project as a result.

Please know that it has been a joy to bring you the ICP for the past 2 years and that I wish I could continue the project into the future. However, my focus has to be on my own healing now. For those of you who have contributed or hosted the ICP, my heartfelt gratitude can hardly be expressed. For those who blog about HIV/AIDS and who fight to end the stigma of this disease, I urge you to continue your work. We are all in the fight of our lives.

Many, many thanks to Sokari at Blacklooks for hosting the final edition of the ICP at the following link:

http://www.blacklooks.org/2008/06/international_carnival_of_positives_-_final_edition.html

Please visit, read and leave your feedback for the host and the contributors in this, the last edition of the ICP.

I wish you all peace and health.

Much love.
ICP 2.9 now available at Creampuff Revolution

Dear Friends of the International Carnival of Pozitivities (ICP):

It is a tremendous pleasure to announce the publication of edition 2.9 of the ICP at the following link:

http://rosemaryrowe.typepad.com/creampuff_revolution/2008/03/creampuff-welco.html

Creampuff, a.k.a., Roro, who hails from Vancouver, is our first repeat host from Canada. I encourage you to bookmark this edition and visit it over time so that you can enjoy each of the contributions from the world of HIV/AIDS. I hope that you will also join me in thanking Roro for her work this month. We “met” about 2 years ago during the NHL Hockey Championship between Edmonton and the Carolina Hurricanes and have been fast friends since despite some rather competitive invocation of mojo to make our teams win the Stanley Cup. Roro’s sense of compassion combined with her sense of humor makes me quite happy to count her among my friends.

This 21st consecutive edition of the ICP features personal accounts, video, a special musical contribution from UK band Slovo, self-help information and the latest in news from the HIV/AIDS community. I hope that you will spend some time reading and that you will leave comments for the contributors. It is through your comments that we can hone our messages and learn how you feel about our work. Please feel free to leave your thoughts with each of the contributors and for our gracious host.

We are now accepting submissions for edition 2.10 to be hosted here, at Mshairi:

http://www.mshairi.com/blog

This will be Mshairi’s first stint as host of the ICP although she has been a frequent contributor in the past. Mshairi’s edition will mark the first time that the ICP will have been hosted by an African host. If you like poetry, you should scroll through her blog. A selection of her poetry also appears at one of my favorite sites, The Other Voices Poetry International Project, an anthology of poetry from around the world that has been recognized by UNESCO, here:

Hey I'm in Melbourne, didn't mind metrosexuality for the last few years and thought is was time to give way "gay"

Am now getting pissed off with them taking over our bars and clubs, and any lastest bars etc are good and gay for 3 months then the trashy metrosexuals with all their mates and girls friends take over the place, the whole atmosphere changes. We have to find place to go so we can be a step ahead of the metrosexuals.

Dear Friends of the International Carnival of Pozitivities (ICP):

The 16th edition of the ICP is now available at:

http://ogresview.mu.nu/archives/243135.php.

This edition represents an attempt to reach out to a conservative political community about HIV/AIDS. It is my hope that our messages might encourage those who normally do not come in contact with the issues of HIV/AIDS to think about how to help us fight the pandemic. We have poetry, video, personal accounts and news from around the world.

The more people who know about the ICP, the more likely it will be that we will continue to receive excellent contributions. In fact, feel free to nominate your own HIV/AIDS related contributions from your favorite blogs or websites. The most powerful stories are those of personal nature, so I would encourage you to seek out or write personal accounts and to share them with the ICP. There are many more of you than of me, so join me in the search for quality blogs that share personal stories about HIV/AIDS from around the world. We have hardly begun to tap into the situation in Asia, so blogs from that region of the world are particularly welcome.

But I never had any of those things in the first place, and I like the label "gay" just fine... Can we just give away the crap and keep the name? I never wanted any of it anyway; I think I inherited it.

Maybe a garage sale... If we made some money we could use it to redecorate with something a little less trendy and outre.

It could be that I sidestepped a lot of the pop-culture baggage associated with being gay because I came out so late (28) and was always more mild & lazy than wild & crazy anyhow. I mean, hell, I listen almost exclusively to acoustic music, and I'm wearing Hanes briefs as we speak (so to speak).

BTW, hi, Macro, I met you at Short Mountain last year. Or maybe it was the year before; I forget.

Dear Friends of the International Carnival of Pozitivities (ICP):

This edition includes a return of artwork from Colombian artist Farid de la Ossa, a video from Angelique Kidjo and Joss Stone for relief for Darfur, a special gift offer from me for your contribution to an AIDS Charity of your choice, HIV/AIDS news from around the world, more addiction recovery help, a very special introduction to "Big Love" or "Arohanui", and much more. Please take a few moments to read and leave comments, particularly for your host, James Wortz, who has done yet another great job despite a bout of bad health in the last few days.

Please consider contributing your original artwork, poetry, news, personal accounts, short stories, videos or music files for the next edition. This next edition is very special. I have approached the host, Mr. Ogre, to participate as an outreach to a conservative political community that normally may not hear from people living with HIV/AIDS. Please consider this an opportunity to share your stories with a group of people who may not normally think of HIV/AIDS as often as we do and how you might make your case for teamwork with people who may not necessarily agree with you.

The International Carnival of Pozitivities--and I gave up "gay affectations" (fashion, hair, effin PRODUCT) long ago due to HIV/AIDS

Hi everyone.

As a gay blogger and a 22 year survivor of HIV/AIDS, I started a blog carnival for people living with HIV/AIDS and their allies. The homepage of the International Carnival of Pozitivities (ICP) can be found at:

www.internationalcarnivalofpozitivities.blogspot.com

This is a forum to share artwork, music, video, poetry, short stories and personal accounts about living with HIV/AIDS, the struggle to end the stigma of HIV/AIDS and how allies help the HIV/AIDS community.

Please check out the homepage at the link above and you will find links for the first 13 editions. Our next edition will be posted by 10 August at Straight, Not Narrow at:

www.straightnotnarrow.blogspot.com

We accept pertinent submissions for each edition until the 2nd of each month at midnight New York time and publish each month by the 10th at midnight.

Please have a look. If you like what you see, please share the link with your friends.

Peace to one and all.

Safe Journeys!

Last year on the 4th of July I saw at least 3 American Flags
as I rode on the train, bus or riding in a friends car.

It seemed to me at least one person had it in mind to put up
flags. They all were the same size, on the same size wooden pole and
held on with what appeared to be white plastic fasteners.
It was hard for me to Not feel
Impressed.

I'd like to do some public art thing for the month of June.
Every one every where does a parade because well...
that's what they do in New York.
Hey,
They didn't write the Gay Rules.

I'm all about the "Enlightening."
I'm over the being "Naughty."
Stencil, T-Shirts, Public sculpture that appears over night,
Shows, Stickers, Silk screen posters,
zines, ....
Any other suggestions, questions, impresions, suggestions?

Hung out with my Straight friends last night. (All teh men I mention bond romanticly and sexualy with women)
It set a good standard to work with in the future.

Ended up a a party.
Got drunken hugs from my friends I crash with on occasion.

It was a good time.

I didn't get to sleep till after 4 Am.
In part to sober up before taking my meds but also
it was all to pleasent.
After getting to my friends place I striped down to my socks leaving my cloths in the attick where I would be sleeping.
I sat with one friend watching a movie and listening to him tell me an article he read about gay charectors in comics.

He fell asleep to the closing credits.
I made my way down staires for a re-fill on my glass of water.

One of the guys was in the living room next to the kitchen watching The O.C. on DVD.
I was carefull to not be see as I opened the fridge door.
He sees me standing behind the door and asks,
"Are you naked?"
When I steped away from the fridge to close the door Zack could see that I was indeed nude.
"Awsome." he says.

I sat with him and friends that had come over and we watched the TV and joked about the goings on in the show. And yes, they were upset over it being cancelled.

Woke up to Zacks snoring two yards away and made a pot of coffee.
I got dressed around noon.

I can't say that there is a single goal amonge the various Bisexual, Gay Male, Lesbian, Queer and Trans communities. One I think many of us share is to be apprieciated for who we are as individuals in our particular communities.

Yes my friends see me as "Gay." But I feel like a "Guy."

I see myself and have been discribed as "an assmilationist."
I don't live in a Gay ghetto. Most of my friends are hetrosexual.
And the role I play is for the most part a same gender loving man in a mostly hetro society.

With more awareness, understanding, acceptance and apprieciation
what is it you all would like to see in your lives and in the lives of others?

Gay Community?

For about 3 decades now we've all been hearing about this thing called a "Gay Community." From my personal perceptions, such a thing does not exist. I mean, what we have in common is that we're sexually attracted to individuals of the same gender. I don't see that as a particularly solid foundation on which to build a community. Shouldn't a community have more cornerstones holding it together than just the detail that everyone is gay?

I'm interested in knowing what "gay community means to other people.

Post-Gay: A Brave New World

I am still pretty new to the lifestyle, so perhaps I'm discredited from the start from such a conversation. Or, perhaps there is some advantage to not having been immersed in queer analysis of everything. When I read such analysis my eyes usually gloss over and my mind wanders. Gross generalizations such as "straight men are unhappy but just hide it better" make my whole being cringe. On what basis can such a claim be made? On what authority? If there were repeated studies to such claims, I would sit up and take notes, otherwise it just sounds like projection which is hopeless as a source for truth.

The social sciences fair much better and yet their notorious failures should stand as reminders that they are not free from politics, personal bias or the temptation to overstate their effectiveness. One such grand failure was the common claim in the 1970's1980's that pedophilia could be treated and that various clients had been rehabilitated, resulting in numerous catastrophes. Catholic bishops aren't the only ones to blame (though that is the politically preferable conclusion in many settings). In my opinion, there are some therapists that belong in jail.

The gay community is notorious for morphing it's self definition to suit its political aims or worse, fashion. In the 1970's, the common wisdom was that gay men and women shouldn't have to think in terms of marriage which was for straight people. Having multiple partners in various constellations of relationships without guilt was what "liberation" was all about, at least sexually. We all know that promiscuity (a very dirty word) became frowned upon in the wake of AIDS. Suddenly, the ideal of marriage became the new orthodoxy, if not in practice then in the community's projected image to the straight world. (Regardless of the ultimate outcome of the political debate, this false projection can only come back to haunt a community as perceptions of gay sexuality catch up with reality.) By now many of you will be angry or tuning me out as a self-loather. Before you do so, give me one more chance...

If sexual attration (distinct from identity) falls on a continuum, then with the pronouncements of various ideologies and orthodoxies convenient for the activist, all bets are off. The impulse toward some grand theory of sexuality is understandable and seemingly natural to the human mind which instinctively simplifies reality to reduce effort. The simplification often takes the form of rejecting data that doesn't fit rather than attempting to account for all data. Attempts to account for all data nullify most orthodoxies.

One of the gay community's latter orthodoxies upon which it bases most of its politics is the genetic explanation of orientation. Politically this theory has the advantage of portraying homosexuality as something utterly beyond ones control. This would have been news to those earlier queers of the 1970's who proclaimed the lifestyle as a "choice" and the orientation as a "sexual preference." As many as a third of American males have had sex with other men. Only a small fraction of those are exlusively gay. It appears from the numbers that "choice" and "preference" are more accurate descriptors for those who practice gay sex. Shockingly, gays are the small minority among those who have gay sex. While same-sex attraction is beyond one's conscious choice for some, the genetic explanation cannot account for those who at one stage in their lives are more attracted to one sex and at other times are more attracted to the other. It certainly doesn't account for the hippie boy who is committed to his undefined status and glad to sleep with whomever strikes him as attractive and available at the moment. Another gay orthodoxy is in jeopardy.

Being Post-Gay then, is a brave new world. It doesn't rely on comfortable ideological tenets, dispenses with unsubstantiated generalities and insists on the singular observation that people are people. Dividing the world between breeders and "us" is just cattyness. As people like other people we are happiest with being ourselves and loving others for themselves and not resorting to the inevitable falsities that arise from crude labels.

I would be very pleased to see all the energy that presently goes into pseudo social analysis in the gay community shifted to sharing best practices on being a happy in life and bringing happiness to others. As elusive as happiness is, this pursuit has some advantages. All human beings participate. It is what we all have in common. And, because happiness and its path is relative, we will not be so tempted to construct grand theories of happiness attainment. We also might listen and speak with personal not merely political interest.

It's time we take the sexual continuum seriously and realize that with convenient orthodoxies and generalities, all bets are off !

Howdy folks!

I'm new to Tribe, and I gotta say, I'm deeply disturbed by much of what I see out here.

I'd like to post something today from my own personal blog, and I've actually decided to cross post it with various other tribes. You are all welcome to draw your own conclusions, and then flame me to your hearts content, if you like. My skin is thick, I am strong like bull. And I'm really pissed off.

I welcome any and all thoughtful discussion.

Any Thoughtless Diss Cussin will be ignored.

Ready? Here we go.

Every so often, as I’m channel surfing in front of the TV, I’ll stop on LOGO, the Gay TV channel.
I can be a bit of a rubber-necker that way. It's just such a wreck I can't help but watch it when I pass by.

Anyway, 'In the Life' was on. This show is kind of like a low-rent 20/20 news show/lifestyle advertisement. I think it first started being produced in the late eighties/early nineties on PBS here in the United States, and I can remember thinking how marvelous it was back then. It’s kind of like finding an old picture of your self with a really bad hairstyle. Only worse.

So I’m watching this bit, an old repeat, and they're talking about ONE Magazine from the fifties, and the Mattachine Society and all that stuff, claiming it to be the birth of Gay, and I’m listening to this earnest, gushing lesbian reporter go on and on about how deprived we are of our collective homo histories, and how wonderful their archive was. It looks huge. They built a building for it. This woman also talked about how due to fear and hate and shame, much of these histories/ documents/artifacts have been destroyed, burned, whatever. There are enourmous gaps in mainstream homo history.

As she prattles on, I’m getting angrier and angrier because I now know a big chunk of gay history that I never had a clue about until I stumbled across The Reverend Jack Malebranche and his work.

www.jackmalebranche.com/hub/index.php

A while ago, I was watching yet another, more recent bit on In The Life, and they were talking about Karl Heinrich Ulrichs and The Uraning Theory, and they now acknowledge this to be the initial birth of the “Gay Identity”. Once again, Adolf Brand was completely ignored, but several of the Uraning supporters were paid homage. And once again, the segment was being narrated by another earnest, gushing lesbian.

Now here’s the kicker:

For almost two years I attended the first All-Homo High School in the world - from 1986 through 1987 - The Harvey Milk School in NYC. We were immersed in Gay Gay Gay and Womyn Womyn Womyn up to our eyeballs and supposedly given ‘our’ history with gobs of pomp and circumstance. They told us about ONE Magazine and a few others, and all of the usual Renaissance guys and lots about The Stonewall Riots and what not.

“Our Bibles had been burned by the evil male oppressors!. Poor us!”

Please keep in mind, if you will, this little factoid: Some of the same people who initially helped get 'In The Life' up and running were also some of the same people who created The Harvey Milk School, and ran it while I was there.

Why is it that after my brief, bargain basement - though quite formal - Gay Education, I had never heard the name Adolf Brand?

I’ve got the creeps right now. I can’t help but wonder just how much of those precious, lost histories were burned by the people who claim to have made them. Or if they’re just locked up in a basement somewhere. Just like the Vatican. ‘In The Life’ seems like a classic propaganda machine to me. And they all followed it. It set the standard.

Be careful what you say, gentlemen. Big Sister is watching you.

Thsi is a new tribe for real guys, whom are into real men too.

To be a Fag, one must be born with a penis.

One must not be girly, queenie. Not Bi, as this is a tribe for guys into other guys, and nothing girly.

One must not be a breeder, but then that comes under Bi. As we have lived our whole life as men, whom, are into other men.

A Fag is the kind of guy that could walk into just about any pub, and sit down and have a cold one, and not be the rooms gay, as soon as you walk in, otr ask for that cold one.

Now this is Gay but not Gay, and all you have to do to join, is to be a fag, and ask........

See U at Fags United

Give away gay bars...

I might be the only one, but I really don't go to gay bars anymore.

The music sucks, the crowd is vapid or desperate and I rarely have a good time. When guys ask me why they haven't seen me on the scene and where do I hang out, I tell them I go to rock clubs and punk bars. This response is mostly met with disdain, but every now and then, it's more like, "Cool. I'm tired of the gay scene. Where do you go - let's hang there." I think it's time to kill the gay scene - all the cool queers have given up their safety blankets. It's harder to meet queers in the regular places, but when you meet someone you know they're gonna be a lot more interesting to you...

Time To Take Back Gay

First Lesbians were hot, next commercial Metro-sexuality erupted, before you knew it Gay became trendy. All of this pop-culture attention bringing us to the forefront of American awareness and shocking our opponents, so began the onslaught. The political right, the religious extremists, the homophobes all see cracks in their status quo, thus prompting them to attempt to push us back in the closet and lock the door.

The gay community, having tasted acceptance, wants to fling that door wide open though. What does any minority group being shut out do? They grab any attention possible in the most outrageous controversial way possible, like a child misbehaving to get noticed by a parent. The difference is they are not our parent.

Suddenly, the gay community is praising pop TV shows like "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" and "Will and Grace", conveniently ignoring times when they are laughing-at-us rather than laughing-with-us. At rallies and pride events we respond be shoving the sexual part of our homosexuality in their face. There are repercussions though.

After a short time, a sort of anything goes attitude develops and the meaning of the cause gets lost. Soon the average homo loses touch with the radicals and begin to distance themselves from 'the fags'.

Personally, I'm tired of conceding things I like. There are some things I don't like about the gay community but I don't want to give away my gayness. Where would that leave me? Instead of giving away gay it's time we took it back.

This year as gay pride races into full swing we need to remember what being gay is about. It's not about our sexuality. It's about who we love. It's also important to keep this in mind as we fight for gay marriage. It's ok to want something but you need to be prepared in case you get it. We're regularly called upon to defend homosexuality on many levels. Personally, I like to be solidly behind what I'm defending. And yet when I've challenged poor behavior from gaymen, I get one of three responses:

'don't impose your morals on me' .

Morality is not a four letter word. Sure, there are lofty standard that few would aspire to but there are also basic tenets that no one can deny. We don't live in an anarchist so society, laws are nothing more that commonly held morals. You don't force unwanted sexual advances on someone. You don't cheat on your spouse (I'm NOT referring to open relationships). Those are just two easy ones.

'how can you judge me for being gay'

When did poor behavior become synonymous with being gay and who better to judge you than another gay man(your peer)?

or 'you're just bitter'

I am the least bitter person you could meet. Disillusioned? Maybe. Concerned? Definitely.

Can we keep "Rent"?

(OK, I'm coming out of the closet here. I'm happily deflowered now, but please don't report my recent "Rent" virgin status to the Gay Purity Committee. They'll revoke my card for sure.)

I honored World AIDS Day by going to see the new film adaptation of "Rent." I confess, it blew me away. I laughed. I cried. It was better than "Cats." Um, seriously. I laughed and I cried, sometimes at the same time. I even sang -- but only during the end credits, at which point I trust I didn't offend any fellow cinemagoers.

'Twas soooo refreshing to see a Hollywood film reflecting the sorts of lives and loves mass media usually ignores! We weren't just the sidekicks or the best friends: We were the stars, the protagonists, the heroes. I left the theater feeling buoyant and renewed.

Then today I found out my 14-year-old niece, who lives a good 45 minutes outside of Chicago, went to see "Rent" last weekend with her friends -- they're all freshmen in high school in suburbia. I am pretty sure, until the other day, she didn't know very much about AIDS or transgender people or bisexuality or interracial romance (or squatter artists in Alphabet City or ... ). I'm not saying that "Rent" is the ideal teaching tool, but it's a helluva great start. Now a population of young suburban kids are laughing and crying and identifying with characters who, at first blush, seem to have nothing in common with themselves. This, of course, is a great way to facilitate serious change in our culture.

Then, later today, I was online, reading a review about the movie, and the responses on a message board (NOT here on Tribe). The reviewer gave "Rent" a big thumbs-up (even as he pointedly included reference to his own heterosexuality) ... then the responses devolved into a huge debate on homosexuality and AIDS and disease and punishment and ... You get the idea. A number of posters remarked how "gay" it all was. ("It" being the film/the musical/the very IDEA of musicals.)

So my point is this: If "Rent" is going to stir up such hilarious knee-jerk responses from the 'phobes, then shouldn't we keep it? Yeah it's gay ... and yeah hipsters aren't allowed to like it because it's dated (and, sometimes, obvious). But dammit, every now and then I love me a good gay musical.

can we keep "civil rights?"

By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer Thu May 18, 12:10 PM ET
WASHINGTON - A Senate committee approved a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage Thursday, after a shouting match that ended when one Democrat strode out and the Republican chairman bid him "good riddance."

"I don't need to be lectured by you. You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I," Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., shouted after Sen. Russ Feingold (news, bio, voting record) declared his opposition to the amendment, his affinity for the Constitution and his intention to leave the meeting.

"If you want to leave, good riddance," Specter finished.

"I've enjoyed your lecture, too, Mr. Chairman," replied Feingold, D-Wis., who is considering a run for president in 2008. "See ya."

Amid increasing partisan tension over President Bush's judicial nominees and domestic wiretapping, the panel voted along party lines to send the constitutional amendment — which would prohibit states from recognizing same-sex marriages — to the full Senate, where it stands little chance of passing.

Democrats complained that bringing up the amendment is a purely political move designed to appeal to the GOP's conservative base in this year of midterm elections. Under the domed ceiling of the ornate and historic President's Room off the Senate floor, senators voted 10-8 to send the measure forward.

Among Feingold's objections was Specter's decision to hold the vote in the President's Room, where access by the general public is restricted, instead of in the panel's usual home in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Specter later said he would have been willing to hold the session in the usual room had he thought doing so would change votes.

Not all those who voted "yes" support the amendment, however. Specter said he is "totally opposed" to it, but felt it deserved a debate in the Senate.

"Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman," reads the measure, which would require approval by two-thirds of Congress and three-fourths of the states.

"Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman," it says.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has scheduled a vote on the proposed amendment the week of June 5.

The issue has ignited a cultural and political debate over what constitutes marriage and the legal rights of gay partners.

Earlier this week, Georgia announced it will appeal a judge's ruling that struck down its voter-approved ban on gay marriage. Gov. Sonny Perdue said he will call a special legislative session if the state Supreme Court doesn't rule on the issue soon.

The Georgia constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage was approved by 76 percent of the state's voters in November 2004. On Tuesday, however, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance C. Russell ruled the measure violated the Georgia constitution's single-subject rules for ballot questions.

The issue has been on the political radar across the nation for more than two years.

On Election Day in 2004, a presidential year, initiatives on gay marriage and civil unions were on the ballot in 11 states, driven in part by opposition to the Massachusetts state Supreme Judicial Court's recognition of same-sex marriage and Republican calculations that the issue would send conservative voters to the polls.

Two states — Louisiana and Missouri — had approved bans earlier in the year.

Please Keep "Damon and Hunter"

Hello,

Yes I know. Long time no post, and rather impolite to return to promote our new film "Damon and Hunter: Doing it Together". I beg your indulgence.

The film is getting great reviews from critics, and a loving reception from viewers. I think the same sensiblity that made me say "right on" when I saw this tribe a few years ago also informs "Damon and Hunter".

"With the mantra: “Porn is sex without love and Hollywood is love without sex,” Tony Comstock has tried to reach a middle ground – and he has. Comstock films capture real couples having sex and splices that footage with an interview about their lives. The result is an engaging, documentary-like pornographic feature that gets you thinking as much as it gets you off. " -- DNA Magazine
www.dnamagazine.com.au/currentissue.htm

"We're treated to a close-up portrait of the two fucking, and the erotic heat between them is palpable. Far from being a sterile documentary portrayal, the sex scenes in Damon & Hunter are sexy, passionate and illuminating, whether they're brief clips -- as in the first part of the film -- or longer, more sensuous explorations -- which come later in the piece." -- Thomas Roche, Eros Zine
www.eros-zine.com/articles/2006-01-24/damonhunter0124/

"I really enjoyed the scenes of loving, natural sex interspersed between interview clips of the boys talking about their relationship and sex life. Unlike a typical studio release, this film turns us into voyeurs by letting us peek into the bedroom of these two beautiful men." -- JustUsBoys.com
blog.justusboys.com/2006/02/03/damon-and-hunter-doing-it-together/

"Damon DeMarco and Hunter James look like the gay couple next door in this very intimate rendering of sex. This isn't really about porn, but lovemaking. As Damon says: 'This is not about procreation.' It's about their pleasure as a couple, which is exactly what the film attempts to capture, a very personal romantic coupling, simply shot so as to allow the full nature of the moments to stand on their own, rather than be washed over by the gloss of porn." -- ManNet.com
mannet.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=001465

"Damon and Hunter fills a noticeable gap in adult erotic entertainment by filming a popular and extremely attractive real-life couple expressing their love and sexuality in a natural way." -- X-factor Magazine
www.xfactor.com/rev06/damonhunter.html

Bill Stackhouse, director of the Institute for Gay Men's Health at GMHC requested several copies of "Damon and Hunter" for use in the institute's education and outreach. Citing the frank depiction of authentic gay sex, and the candid testimony, Bill felt it would be an invaluable teaching tool in their efforts.
reposted from Cal. Progressives. Thanks, Janet!
EMERGENCY PROTEST
AGAINST RIGHT WING CHRISTIAN AGENDA

FRIDAY, MARCH 24
2:30 PM - 4:0O PM
SAN FRANCISCO CITY HALL

Once again, out of town right wing extremist Chrisitans are coming to San Francisco. They are having a youth “battlecry” Friday and Saturday at SBC/AT&T Park, but as their “warm up” they are staging a rally on the steps of OUR City Hall.

Who are they? Check out http://www.battlecry.com/

They believe in ongoing wars against Muslim countries, recruiting our youth as “Christian soldiers.” They want to enact laws that are antiwoman, antichoice, antisex, and anti-gay.

STAND WITH US TO TELL THEM
TO GO AWAY—
WE DON’T WANT THEIR THEOCRACY!

Back to 'Straight Acting'... [if it hasn't been given away yet]

In reference to Milo's earlier post... Has anyone ever noticed guys who consider themselves 'straight acting' are the ones who look the most... *ahem* 'gay'? You know the ones:

The "I-just-got-back-from-the-gym-and-i'm-freshly-shaven-[everywhere]-and-i'm-perfectly-tanned-so-look-orange-and-I'm-going-out-clubbing-tonight-in-my-best-abercrombie-t-shirt-and-i-can't-wait-to-get-really-high" kinda guys?...

Wouldn't 'acting straight' be, oh, i dunno... having heterosexual intercourse?...
T-minus 24 hours - ‘MATURE’ queer/trans/str8 dive bar & grill on tribe.net LAUNCHES NOW - OUR reveal party prior to 12/20 & your liberty & libations are on the house!

Greetings to those disgruntled by Tribe.net recent course of action in our ‘peer to peer’ Internet community which includes all my sisters and brothers,

I myself who just joined Tribe.net on Thanksgiving, have had one hell of a roller-coaster ride of awesome highs AND the disturbing arrival of the low-down reality of ‘status quo’ censorship.

I’ve always done my best to face challenge ‘head on’. Whether it be a silicon melt-down or coming up with a solution for what really pisses this faggot off!

Therefore instead of bolting Tribe.net, I’ve decided to hang and find out who will eventually win the ‘War of Liberty”. So after giving it much thought I’ve decided to started a new tribe as pf 12/18/05 AND I’m inviting you especially to take a ‘peek’ and check it out..

This new tribe in no way is meant to take any thunder away from any 'alternative tribes’ of which I’m a proud member of.

With the moderator’s permission I’d like to invite you to visit this new ‘mature’ tribe today, Monday December 16, 2005 while it’s still on ‘moderated’ status before it becomes ‘private’ and by sent only invitation tomorrow (on Tuesday).

The URL is:

http://tribes.tribe.net/queerthinktank?_click_path=Application%5Btribe%5D.Tribe%5B09ffbf11-1a37-48b7-a79d-cf1dd84f6266%5D

If for some reason the link above doesn’t work today, send me a message and I’ll get you in anyway.

As of 5:00 PM PST/11:00 PM EST TODAY this invitation thread will be no more on all tribes that it’s posted to.

The newly formed 'Queer Think Tank' tribe, is a 'MATURE' trans-generational meeting place, all-inclusive watering hole, trash salon, mobile dive bar & grill where liberty is on tap.

As I previously said, I've only been a member of Tribe.net since Thanksgiving and this 'newbie' is very appreciative that in a short period of time I've met people like you who choose to include me & help me out WHILE watching my back in the process for which I’m truly grateful for.

Now it’s my turn to return the favor.

YES MAM', SIR, and/or it; the 'Queer Think Tank' tribe is a private 'MATURE' trans-generational, all-inclusive watering hole, roadhouse & trash salon group on Tribe.net.

Thank you for your time and consideration, BTW you ROCK, thank you for your time and consideration and have a great week!

Now, where's that voice of liberty anyway? I know they’re around here somewhere.

Peace, understanding, peace & let’s get this party started,
Bob 69

PS, Even though the 'Queer Think Tank' tribe is now 'open for business' please expect much more by the end of this year. You know how a pre-release reveal party can get & "the show must go on" & Daddy needs to ‘chill’ for 72 hours.

FYI, This weekend my laptop decided to have a temper tantrum and I had a m*ther f*ckin’ "tiger by the tail" with no cage in sight, but now the beasty Mr. Happy seems to be behaving himself once again. After all, he’s just a wild-eyed and boisterous silicon chip off the old block. Anyway…

I've launching the tribe yesterday; December 18, 2005 before Tribe.net changes it's TOU policy and institutes 'community flagging' because of federal enforcement of '18 U.S.C. Section 2257' on December 20, 2005.

At your EARLIEST convenience TODAY, I implore you to check out the description of 'Queer Think Tank' and decide for yourself, if it's serving up what can quench your thirst or at least, wet your whistle.

IF you know of other tribe member who might like to join this 'MATURE' group of "ill repute & intellectual & social pursuits" please by all means, point them in our direction and ask them to send me a message!

Thank you.

Since we're giving away all this free shit, how about we take some stuff back, you know... like Hal Sparks. And while we're taking things back, if we could sneak off with a few things like, Oh... I don't know, Cillian Murphey that would be pretty hot... er I mean COOL! That would be pretty cool too :P

since we're talking about getting rid of 'gay' identity, let's just extend it to include the socialization of 'gay' by the largely 'heterosexual' culture:

my picks would be:

1. gay, i'd prefer simply 'queer' since then it's gender neutral and nice and vague so i can include all my friends, barring that maybe just 'person' ;)

2. financial carelessness, little trendy bois with no understanding of the debt they are accrueing(sp?) are bad bad bad bad.

3. prohibition by gays of anything other than vanilla sex, i have no idea where this comes from, possibly only from young men/women, but i'm out-of-my-mind tired of talking to guys who think it's 'gross' to use dildos, cockrings, leather/latex/etc anything, electro gear, or even just some hot doggystyle action.

4. bad beer, what is wrong wtih guys that are supposed to want the nicest things but that drink horrible beer? bleh.

5. only referencing guys, such as in my list ;) i love my lezzy cousins and wish i had more of them in my life.

that's it for now i guess, i'm not sure how i feel about gay programming, sometimes i like it and sometimes i don't.

what are your lists?? :)

It's still about the cocksucking...

Hello again. Yes, I know. Long time no post.

Last weekend my wife and I shot our first homosexual couple, a pair of beautiful young men from right here in New York City. They said some wonderful things about cocksucking, and showed us some wonderful cocksucking too. I can't wait to show the world. But maybe the best part of the whole afternoon we spent together was something Jeff said during our interview. He's the one with the dark hair and normal sized dick. What he said was, "We can't pretend it's about procreation."

That struck me as deeply profound and deeply humane, and I can already see that it is going to take it's place as among the shimmering stars that I use to navigate through the uncharted waters that are this work I do. Yes, I know that sounds a little overwrought and mellowdramatic. I don't care.

At any rate, I think we saw and heard something wonderful. I am eager to show it to you all, and everyone else.
Eyebrow plucking...

So I'm at work this week, having lunch, and one of the straight guys from another department tells a female co-worker "Damn, I need to get my eyebrows done." I nearly fell out of the chair. I know the guy so I said, "Man, that's the gayest thing I ever heard."

I can understand tweezing a unibrow, after all, 2 eyes, 2 eyebrows. But when you get into shaping and arching, it becomes a bit too much for me.

So I say, let them have eyebrow plucking. It hurts, and not in a good way ;-)

Under the Banner of Gay or Bi?

Yes I 100% feel the need to give away the word Gay, or leave it to the Bi"s, Tri's, and Dyk's.

I as a pure homosexuail, dont feel that Bi's, tris, dyk's belong under the banner I stand, as a pure homosexual.

So I am happy for the bi's, tri's, dyke's to stand under the banner of Gay, and I'll Stand under the Banner of Fag! But Queens dont belong under the banner of Fag, so were do they go?

But since I was not born gay, nothing to do with the working of our Father in Heaven! But still am a pure homosexuail.
Have we given away "Straight Acting" yet?

SO, i found myself doing a websearch for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop 21 album (i'm looking for a track called "Time Beat" if anybody cares) and stumbled upon something new to my mush-brained US mentality:
Teletext

I found an online teletext site from Ireland, and lo and behold! they had personal ads. After cruising the F4M I wanted to see what Irish dudes wanted... they were mostly looking for (or claimed to be) Straight Acting!!!

Is this ANOTHER hideous monster that we in the US have exported to the rest of the world?

When will we get to see "Sparkley fairyboi, 30, femmepunk, ISO sparkley people of any/all genders for shared meals, community building, organic gardening, and lots of hot, gooey sex (cinnamon buns included!)"
Give away THE WOMEN? not yet...

As part of the Bridge Theatre's 65th Anniversary celebration and 1939 Film Festival the theatre is screening the film classic THE WOMEN on Friday 12/17 and Saturday 12/18.

However! The Bridge has agreed to put Trannyshack onstage to perform full drag-show theatre versions of THE WOMEN at 7pm before the movie screens. This is definitely an "only in San Francisco" type event considering these queens are going to be performing for a film classic audience just after sundown. Also, the whole thing is only $8. Tickets are now on sale!

www.bridgetheatre.com

Also, don't miss my one-off Midnight Mass event and farewell party for Martiny when we screen WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? on Saturday 12/18 at midnight. I'm going to show my brand new movie WHATEVER HAPPENED TO PEACHES CHRIST? as part of the pre-show. Fierce!

From The Black Men Tribe

October 14, 2004 - 09:12 AM new
"What does love mean?"

I just had to share...This is from Quiche M of the Love tribe

~LOVE~

A group of professional people posted this question: "What does love mean?" to a group of 4-to-8 year olds; the answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think?

When my grandma got arthritis; she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandpa does it for her now all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.
Rebecca - age 8
***********************
When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouths.
Billy - age 4
***********************
Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving Cologne and they go out and smell each other.
Kari - age 5
***********************
Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French Fries without making them give you any of theirs.
Chrissy - age 6
***********************
Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.
Terri - age 4
***********************
Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.
Danny - age 7
***********************
Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My mommy and daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss.
Emily - age 8
***********************
Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.
Bobby - age 7 (wow!)
***********************
If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.
Nikka - age 6
***********************
Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.
Noelle - age 7
***********************
Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.
Tommy - age 6
***********************
During my piano recital, I was on stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.
Cindy - age 8
***********************
My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night..
Clare - age 6
***********************
Love is when mommy gives daddy the best piece of chicken.
Elaine - age 5
***********************
Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.
Chris - age 7
***********************
Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.
Mary Ann - age 4
***********************
When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.
Karen - age 7
***********************
Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and doesn't think it's gross.
Mark - age 6
***********************
You really shouldn't say "I LOVE YOU" unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.
Jessica - age 8
***********************
And the winner?
A 4-year-old whose next-door neighbor, an elderly man, had just lost his wife. When the little boy saw the man crying, he went over into the man's yard, climbed up on his lap and just sat there. When the boy's mother asked him what he'd said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

Time to give away our non-mature status

I got a message yesterday from Tribe to say that because we had a picture of a man with an erect penis in our album - I know I couldn't remember it either, actually it wasn't very big, it was Trouble´s pic of a guy covered in pen written messgaes like "fag" etc, captioned Time to give away fetishizing Shame.

Well anyway, I have temporally hidden it, just while I see how everyone feels, cause I don't really think that "time" is predominantly a mature group (in either sense of the word) and we have had some great discussion on gender indentity and stuff that under eighteens would probably find really interesting. I hate that fact that one erect penis is deemed to be incompatible with open dialogue, but it's their house so I accept that they make the rules.

So what do you all think?

Maybe you thought you'd given Macro away. It´s true I have been otherwise occuppied for a fair few weeks, but anyway I'm back now.

I also just started a new tribe.

I realised that there are people in my personal network that I never really got off the "ooh you look interesting, join my tribe" satrting blocks with and as one of the "gay" things I'd like to propose giving away is fairweather or disco, ie chat to you once and never go deeper, friends I´ve started a virtual coffee morning with the aim of spending quality time with my friends.

It is a private tribe, but as I think of all of you on ´time to´ as potential or actual friends, if you want to attend send me a invite to your personal network and I'll invite you to the coffee morning.

Politicians who are "gay"?

So, about mcgreevey - do you like how certain media outlets are focusing primarily on the fact that he's gay rather than the affair and/or other corruption going on? Go MTV.

And then there's this poll.. another fun piece of google-approved ideology.
http://www.google.com/pagead/adclick?adurl=http://www.sixquestions.com/application/poll/single_poll.asp%3Fp%3D2725&sa=l&ai=AtBvfdlOJBJt83Eo0ssq54acCt6f0G0f7GLZAzaLgVHADBApTEaZAQb4ABEQAYax9Gzu_DAAAAAQAAA&num=1

Does it make sense to ask these questions? On one hand, NO. It shoudl be a <pickyourown>-given right for us, just as them, to have all opportunites in life. And putting this question out on google's adwords (on a search for "golan cipel", no less) makes it seem like hte question is in doubt, and there's something about that that bothers me.
Then again, it is in doubt for some people, right? Isn't it the moral responsibility of anyone (right or left or queer or conservative) to be able to ask any question and hear any answer, whether or not they/I like it?

(Via a friend's website, via thestranger.com...
This is fucking hilarious:)

ADVICE FOR RECENT ARRIVALS
Dos & Don'ts & More Don'ts for Gay Boy Refugees
by Nate Lippens

So you made it out of that backwater town in one piece. Now comes the hard part--acclimating to a new place and living an openly gay life. Soon enough you will discover which bars cater to your distorted physical ideals, that meth is very bad, and that a deep tan is ugly and pre-cancerous--but what about the other stuff? Here's a cheat sheet to save you some time and trouble.

1. You are not a strong black woman. You never will be.

2. I know it was terrible being the fag in your school/small town/own mind, but don't introduce yourself to people with this information. Being gay is, and should be, the least interesting thing about you.

3. If your mother is the greatest woman who ever lived, keep it to yourself. The holiday orphans don't want to hear it. On the flip side, your family will always be a part of you even if you never speak to them again, but try not to spend your life in reaction to them.

4. Rainbow flags, bumper stickers, and wind socks are no different than Green Bay Packers fans painting their faces green and gold: a complete embarrassment. Pride can be as ugly and warping as shame.

5. Gay life can be empty and depressing, but bitching about it outside the confines of a few close friends will get you tagged as bitter. Yes, the gay mainstream is alienating with its cookie-cutter bars, bad dance music, and Queer as Folk. It's enough to make you turn straight. But electroshock doesn't work and Jesus is a sci-fi character.

6. Don't fraternize with people who haven't come out.

7. Your masculinity has most likely been called into question. Anything you do in reaction to it will be a failure. Don't try to prove or disprove anything.

8. There is a difference between being effeminate and being a queen. Being effeminate is just that--being. Being a queen is an affectation. I can't throw a ball, but I don't call anyone "girl," even female children.

9. Avoid she-bonics: referring to each other as Girl, She, and Her. "What's her problem?" That you are an idiot. This includes: Bitchslap, Girlfriend, Shit pussy, Mangina.

10. Don't be a misogynist asshole. Leave the tuna jokes back in your small town with your usage of Jew as a verb. If it weren't for lesbians and feminism, we'd still be sucking cock in truck-stop restrooms. I mean exclusively.

11. I've never been to a bathhouse. No, really. So I can't advise you on it but I do know they are basically a petri dish of STDs. If you are okay with HIV, herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, and other STDs, by all means fuck your brains out.

12. Do not have black-and-white photos à la Bruce Weber taken of you and your beloved. And if you must, then don't hang them up as "art" in your home.

13. Don't kiss and tell. Or fuck, suck, rim, or fist and tell. Think of your bedroom like Vegas: What happens there stays there. It will keep you from gossiping, which is the true heart of darkness, and will create a sense of mystery. Besides the cruelty of nicknaming someone Princess Tiny Meat (it would make a wonderful DJ name though), it isn't good karma. And what modestly endowed dude who sucks a mean cock is going to want to go home with you after that?

14. Bros before hos. I learned this the hard way: Do not sleep with a friend's ex-boyfriend. Ever. Even if they say they don't care, they do.

15. You are 200 times more likely to be an alcoholic than your straight counterparts.

16. Beauty fades. Develop some inner resources, otherwise when it goes, those of us with less far to fall will laugh at you. To your aging face.

17. Men, like lotto tickets, should not be had every day. The odds are the same.

18. Romantic friendships will end up being neither.

19. Cultivate friendships with straight men. "But we have nothing in common," you say? Bullshit. You are men. Many straight men are in fact softer and sweeter than their faggoty brothers.

20. Make friends with at least one dyke, you silly faggot. When the shit goes down--for instance your mother dies--fags will drop you in an instant if you aren't fun. Dykes will come to your house with food.

21. Don't make friendships based solely around how out
